I can’t wait for 21 Jan 2008. The new season looks like its going to be a good one. Something worth the wait!

Songza is a new online jukebox that pulls its songs from YouTube clips. Launched in November 2007 by Aza Raskin, the site presents the user with a very simple and effective interface for searching for and playing music. It’s pretty much what Google will do if they ever allow music search from their front page. Minus the white background.
With the Tour de France just having finished under a cloud of scandal, it is becoming more and more apparent that few of today’s sporting heroes are clean. Most of the popular sports such as Baseball, Wrestling, Cycling, Golf etc have been hit by drug and steriod abuse stories. As a huge cycling fan, I’m really worried about the future of the sport and sports in general. A win-at-all-costs attitude seems to be taught to our kids from an early age. When did participation become more work and fun?
Former WWE Wrestling star Hulk Hogan has admitted to years of steriod abuse in an exclusive Sun interview. Here are some excerpts from the interview:
“My face was puffy, my arms were so bulky I couldn’t touch my shoulders. You could take one look at me and know I was on something.
“I remember up until the early 1990s any wrestler could walk into a doctor and they’d write you a prescription for steroids. ” Then there was a huge trial where WWE boss Vince McMahon was unfairly accused and rightly acquitted of distributing the drugs to his workers.
“It was part of my daily regimen. Did you take a shower? Yeah. Did you brush your teeth? Yeah. Did you take your steroids? Yeah.
This from the horse’s mouth, Tiesto’s agent:
The only thing true about the rumours is that
we’re currently looking into a possible gig in South
Nothing is 100% sure, nothing is confirmed and
whatever rumour’s been going around town is
based on nothing but… rumours!
Anyway, we’re looking into it and as soon as
we have a promoter, a venue and an officially
confirmed date, we’ll publish it on www.tiesto.com
NBC has posted a 4 minute teaser for the new Bionic Woman. Reminds me of the Million Dollar Man from the Eighties also known as “Die Man van Staal” for us South Africans who relied on the good old SABC for our entertainment.
Looks really good.
FILMWAD was a great post about my favorite actor, Christian Bale. Here are a few extracts from the article:
Christian Bale is eighteen times cooler than you, or anyone you will ever meet. This is a fact.
Bale was born in Wales, and he most assuredly has a British accent. Yet for what seems to be the majority of his films (Equilibrium, American Psycho, Shaft, Harsh Times, etc), Bale has a damn-near-perfect American accent.
Bale is one of the few actors in the world who can effortlessly glide from shallow, pop entertainment, to quasi-arthouse fare, to everything in between – often adding a lot more class and dignity to roles and films than they really have any right to.
Be sure to subscribe to the 3rd book of the popular podcast novel by J.C. Hutchins, 7th Son. The story, which would make a brilliant movie, centers around the lives of 7 human clones that need to stop the villain of all villains from destroying the world. The podcast which is read and produced by the author is as good as any professional audio book out there.
From the 7th Son Site:
7th Son is a free serialized audiobook. It chronicles the story of seven strangers who have been brought together after the recent assassination of the U.S. president. These men quickly discover they all appear to be the same man … with identical childhood memories.
Unwitting participants in a human cloning experiment, these “John Michael Smiths” have been assembled to catch the man who murdered the president. Their target? The man they were cloned from; the original John Michael Smith, code-named John Alpha.
If you’ve not been a fan from the start of book 1, J.C. has posted a story-so-far podcast that allows you to catch up.
This is great entertainment, and the best part is that its free.
One of my favorite local personalities, Bill Flynn, has died.
“Bill was the most loved actor in the whole country.”
Heaney said he found 40 messages and “missed calls” from friends and colleagues in the acting world when he switched his cellphone on after doing a shoot on Wednesday afternoon.
“People are utterly devastated. It’s a terrible tragedy that such a fine actor and human being should die at such a young age.”
Flynn, 58, is believed to have had a heart attack.

The introduction of mobile TV, IPTV and VOD forms part of the broadcasters key strategy of new platform development and delivery channels.
New offerings from the company will include:
- DSTV Mobile – Mobile TV via DVB-H to mobile devices
- DSTV Broadband – VHS quality content via the DSTV website. The ability to view or download content that has appeared on the DSTV channels.
- DSTV Extra – Video on Demand (VOD). Content automatically downloaded to the PVR decoder unlocked for a fee to be viewed at any time. Expected end of 2007.
About 18 months ago, whilst working for Multichoice, I pitched the concept of PVR Podcasting to the Exco. I produced the following video explaining the concept.
The idea was to simply allow for user generated content such as Podcasts to be automatically downloaded to a PVR decoder. Users would subscribe to community produced shows and have them streamed to their decoders via satellite. Imagine submitting a home made movie featuring your new house and then having all your friends and family view it on their decoders right in their living rooms. No need for a computer, a slow internet connection, downloads, live streaming etc.
Here is the video.
